There is no exact answer to how long custom flags will last, as it depends on several factors. The U.S. Government typically expects a nylon or polyester flag to last around 90 days when flown daily from sunrise to sunset, excluding inclement weather. However, it’s important to note that flags flown 24 hours a day may have a shorter lifespan compared to those flown only during daylight hours, according to tests.
While some custom flags can last as long as a year or even longer, it is impossible to guarantee a specific duration due to the varying conditions and usage. Flags are ultimately made of fabric, and their longevity depends on factors such as weather exposure, frequency of use, and proper care.
Despite the construction quality, flags will eventually be affected by the elements. However, proper care can significantly contribute to a longer flag life. Regularly inspect your flag for signs of wear, paying attention to fabric or thread breaks at the “fly” end, which is farthest from the staff. Trimming and re-hemming torn or frayed ends can help prolong the flag’s life.
For larger flags, which represent a larger investment, it is recommended to provide maximum protection. Consider rotating between two flags periodically, as flag fibers can benefit from rest. This approach ensures that you always have a flag available while the other is being cleaned or repaired.
By following these practices, you can help extend the lifespan of your custom flag and maintain its appearance. However, please note that there is no way to guarantee an exact duration for flag longevity due to the inherent nature of fabric and external factors.
We do not accept returns on custom-made products once they have been approved, manufactured and shipped. If there is a printing defect or any mistake we will of course reprint at no additional cost.

Please see our reference chart below.
The length of your flag should be at least 1/4 the height of your flagpole. For example, a 40′ flagpole requires a 6’x10′ flag or larger. This guideline applies to flagpoles 20′ and larger. Most residential flags are 3’x5′ or 4’x6′. It is not uncommon to see a factor of 1/3 being used.
The size of the flag you should get for a flagpole depends on the height of the pole itself. As a general guideline, the length of the flag should be about one-fourth the height of the flagpole. For example, if you have a 20-foot flagpole, a flag with a length of 5 feet would be suitable. However, it’s important to consider local regulations or guidelines that may specify flag size requirements.
Regarding the American flag and custom flags, proper flag etiquette suggests that the American flag should be given a position of prominence and respect. When flying the American flag alongside a custom flag on separate flagpoles, the American flag should be positioned higher. Traditionally, the American flag is raised first and lowered last when flown with other flags.
In terms of size, the custom flag should generally be of equal or smaller dimensions than the American flag when flown on the same flagpole. This ensures that the American flag remains the focal point. However, it’s important to note that specific guidelines or regulations may vary, so it’s recommended to consult local flag display guidelines or seek advice from flag experts to ensure compliance.

Proper care and maintenance are essential for preserving the quality and longevity of your flag or banner. Here are some general guidelines for cleaning:
Polyester/Nylon Flags, Banners & Table Covers: Hand wash using mild detergent in cold water. Gently scrub the fabric and rinse thoroughly. Avoid twisting or wringing the material. Allow it to air dry by hanging it or laying it flat.
Vinyl Banners: Wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth or sponge using mild soap or detergent. Rinse well and allow it to air dry.
600PU Polyester Canopy Tents: After usage, please make sure the fabric is clean and dry for storage, as this might reduce the lifetime of the canopy tent. If there is any dirt on the fabric, please hand wash it with cold water and mild detergent.
It’s important to note that excessive washing or using harsh chemicals can damage the colors and fabric. Avoid machine drying or ironing, as it may cause shrinkage or melting. If you have specific concerns or require further assistance, feel free to reach out to us for personalized cleaning recommendations based on the material of your flag or banner.
Yes, all of our outdoor flags and banners are designed with UV protection in mind. We understand that prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause fading and damage to the colors and fabric. Therefore, we incorporate UV protection features into our materials and printing processes. This helps to minimize the effects of UV rays and extends the lifespan of the flags and banners when used outdoors. However, it’s important to note that over time, some natural fading may still occur due to the inherent nature of UV exposure. Taking proper care of your flags and banners, such as cleaning and storing them appropriately when not in use, can further help in preserving their vibrant appearance.

Please reach out to our artwork team with your specific artwork files, and they will assess whether artwork rebuilding is necessary and provide you with a price quote accordingly.

We follow a process where we send an artwork proof to our customers prior to production. Once the artwork is approved by the customer, we proceed with generating the invoice and payment request.

Flags are usually rectangular in shape with canvas heading and brass grommets on the hoist. The fly hem is reinforced with a four-needle hem. They are usually horizontal; however, they can be made vertically for a special effect. Common sizes are 2’x3′, 3’x5′, 4’x6′, 5’x8′, 6’x10′, 8’x12′. We can advise recommended sizes if you tell us the height of your flagpole. A custom flag flown below the United States flag is often the same size or one or two sizes smaller than the U.S. We can make any shape or size you want.
Pennants are three-pointed flags usually finished with grommets on the hoist.
Burgees are similar to Pennants but they narrow into two points and “V” back toward the hoist. Often called a swallowtail and usually finished with heading and grommets.
Guidons are similar to a standard rectangular flag shape in that they stay square to the fly end, they come to two points and “V” back toward the hoist. Often associated with military flags.
Banners are usually rectangular in shape and finished with grommets or a pole pocket across the top. They can be made horizontally or vertically, double, or single sided. Usually seen at tradeshows or special events, hanging against a wall or suspended from a ceiling, attached to a light post or hung from post to post or across a street. Often used as promotional items.
Decorative Banners are usually displayed vertically and are rectangular in shape. The top is finished with a pole pocket that attaches to a decorator-type flagpole that extends from the front of a building at a 45° or 90° angle. Common sizes are 26″x42″, 34″x44″, 32″x52″, 34″x50″ or 36″x54″. Lettering on a decorative banner can be made 1PLY (single thickness with a reverse back) or 2PLY (double thickness to read correctly on both sides).
Table Covers drape over a table and down the back. The design is typically done on the front section of the table drape (Usually 2 ½’ X 6′ or 8′). We can produce any custom size table cover. Just provide us with the dimensions and we will take care of the rest!
Appliquéd flags, banners and table covers are typically made of nylon. The design is duplicated by hand sewing fabric to fabric. This is usually a preferred method of manufacture when one or two pieces are needed. This technique is elegant and makes a rich appearance, which is most appreciated when the product or display is seen up close. This quality is commonly used at tradeshows or on indoor flag sets. The price depends on the style and number of letters and also on the complexity of the design.
Silk-Screen printed flags, banners and table covers are either acid dyed or surface printed with or without penetration to the backside. This method is often recommended when quantities of six or more pieces are required. The unit cost is frequently more cost effective than appliqué. The price depends on the number of colors. We can match Pantone Colors (PMS) precisely every time at no additional cost.
Sublimation flags are printed on white fabric therefore white is not considered a color. Surface-printed flags and banners are effective when the design needs to be on one side only. Light-colored backgrounds can often be penetrated with the inks to get the reverse image on the backside. Sublimation and digital prints are often used with photo images.
2PLY Double-Sided banners and flags read correctly on both sides. These are 2 flags sewn together with an insert block out liner sewn between.
1PLY Single-Sided banners and flags read correctly on one side. Single thickness, reverse back bleeds through the fabric. The backside appears as a mirror image typically about 70% transparency (sometimes more or less depending on the design and the fabric).
